RUÍNA
RUÍNA
Ruin begins at the very instant an azulejo — an almost liturgical emblem of the Portuguese landscape — breaks. Each plate becomes an archaeological site — not of what was lost, but of what stubbornly endures. From this fragmentation arise compositions that defy historical order: shards of ceramic memory intersect and overlap one another. Remnants of decals are meticulously applied by hand onto fine Portuguese porcelain, in a choreography that celebrates deviation. Each fragment is placed individually, allowing accidents, interruptions, and displacements to fuse into the glaze. A surface where tradition and ruin meet for a fleeting moment, and in that instant, are changed forever.
